A Little Sneak-Peak of What's Coming to the Shop
I made some more bright colors, some camouflage sort of colorways for the man in your life and some more dark gothy ones since my Inner Goth colorway has just sold out. I'm going to make more of this particular colorway next weekend so there should be more in the shop soon.
I'm having so much fun running the shop and having it be at least a minor success. I just hope people keep buying so I can dye more since I'm really just in it for the dyeing. I've already started planning for the fall and winter seasons. Since I will be unable to dye outside I would like to start dyeing worsted and DK weight yarns in solid colors so you guys can make more than just socks. And I'm definitely going to add a few lace weights in a next month or so as well.
Thanks to everyone who has helped to not make this a complete and utter failure!
Have a great weekend!
How am I awake?
Its 8:30 on a Saturday morning and somehow I'm awake. I had awful dreams last night about all kinds of crazy things, if I was a writer I'd write a story about it but I'm not. I am however a dyer and Saturday is a dyeing day! I'm trying to get enough coffee in me before I catch my train out to my mom's. I really hope the weather clears up. Its looking a little dreary at the moment it would be nice to have some sun.
Anyway, I've been meaning to show you all the socks I've been working on for Carl. The socks themselves are not that impressive but I'm using the second skein of yarn I ever dyed. I'm really happy about the way its knitting up. Very little pooling around the heel and the colors are lining up beautifully. I hope all my skeins knit up like this!
I also got these awesome vampire stitch markers for my friend Jess. Its a crap pictures but you get the idea. She made them for me because of my obsession with The Twilight Saga.

OK I have to get my butt in gear and get out of the house so I can make my train. Have a great long weekend everyone!!

Triple Squee!!!!
I got an email this morning telling me that my shop will be the Etsy shop of the day today on the Chum!!!!! Oh my god, so happy!!! Doing a silent happy dance so I don't wake the Carl...I don't think I even need coffee this morning!
On a more business-like note (using my serious voice now), I will be shipping orders tomorrow so let me know if you need things wound into balls or anything!

Squee!!!
I met my first customer today! She was really sweet and showed me a few of the socks she had made. Unfortunately, I didn't have mush time to chat since I met during work and I had to run back to the office.
I decided when I opened the shop that if someone was in the area that I could meet them or drop off the their order and then they wouldn't need to pay shipping. Now that I've actually had to do this I'm really happy I made this decision. Its really nice to meet the people you sell to online. I feel like you never get to meet your online friends and fellow knitters so it was nice to meet one for once.
I had one other sale since the launch this weekend and I will be shipping that order out near the end of the week. I know 2 customers isn't a lot but it does feel good. It least I know this wasn't a complete failure!
Anyway I'm off to work on my socks for Carl. I hope he likes these because I'm going to push him to be more adventurous with the next pair. And hopefully I will get some sleep tonight and maybe have dreams of these.

Can't sleep
I had a long day today and I'm exhausted and yet I can't sleep. I don't know if its the Excedrin I took a couple hours ago to kick the last of my migraine in the butt or if its because I just can't stop thinking about colorways and things I want to dye and where I want the shop to go. All I know is I can't sleep.
While I'm not sleeping I think I should catch you all up on the thinks that have been completed since we last spoke. I have finished knitting the French Market bag in two shades of blue. I don't have any pictures at the moment because I still haven't felted the damn thing so it just looks like a big blue amoeba. I finished my razor cami and I love it! I've worn it a couple times now and I have to say Debbie Bliss Cashmerino is freakin WARM!
I finished my Loopy Ewe sheep socks a while ago but I never shared a picture of the completed socks. I love these socks, the sheep are just too stinkin cute.
I also finished the Trellis and Pear Cylinder. I love the way this turned out. The alpaca is really warm and soft so it will be perfect for the cold weather.
All-in-all I've been rather busy during my little blogging break. Now if I could find my spindle in the mess I call an apartment I could finish the roving I've been working on for the last 4 or so months and move onto the other rovings I have in my stash. I'm still convinced that our cleaning lady found it and put it somewhere odd because she didn't know what it was. I guess I'll have to turn the apartment upside this weekend to find it.
The only thing I'm knitting at the moment is a pair of super simple Sts socks for Carl. I'm using the green and brown yarn I dye when I took that dyeing class at The Point. So far I am loving the way the yarn turned out. It looks almost camouflage like which is great when you're making socks for a boy.
Well I'm going to flip though the things we have taped on the DVR and hope there's something worth watching till the sleepytime pills kick in.
HAVE A GOODNIGHT!

A post from my friend Jess
Recently, as almost anyone who has talked to me, read my posts online or even wandered within earshot already knows, I've decided to adopt a kitten friend for my cat. This led me back to the NY humane society where I adopted Pichu, who had lived there in a cage for 16 months before I brought her home. Visiting the adult cat section is always the saddest as they often have to wait a long time in their cages for their "forever homes" and I know from Pichu's experience that that can be a very traumatic time for them. Unable to bring home 50 new adult cats, I've decided to do one of the next best things and knit some shelter blankets for donation. Would any of you wonderful members of the New York knitting community like to help? As an incentive I've just ordered some adorable kitty and doggy beads (see below) and will make 2 stitch markers per blanket for anyone who makes a donation. If you're like me and have enough stitch markers to mark a 5 stitch repeat in a 1000 stitch row, I can also make earrings, pendants, bag charms and keychains with said beads. I can show some pics of finished stitch markers as soon as I get the beads in the mail, but they'll be pretty standard on 9mm rings with accent beads around the focal bead. For info on blanket specifications you can check out a site like this http://www.snugglesproject.org/ but really as long as you use a washable yarn or felted wool you can't go wrong. Let me know if you want to join me in this, I'm sure I can arrange with the director of adoptions for us to all visit together if you want to drop off your blankets in person and maybe choose a special friend to give them to.Bead for stitch markers: http://store.goodybeads.com/store/products/GBLB0224.htmlhttp://store.goodybeads.com/store/products/GBLB0019.htmlhttp://store.goodybeads.com/store/products/A001998.htmlhttp://store.goodybeads.com/store/products/A001932.htmlhttp://store.goodybeads.com/store/products/GBLB0239.html

And if anyone not in the New York area would like to help please email me at kitti2323 at gmail DOT com and I will send you an address to ship the blankets to. This is a wonderful cause so dig into those knitting baskets and start working through the random bits in your stash.
Thanks,
Alyssa
