All Done!!

The coffee press cozy is done:

Carl keeps telling me that I made a condom for the damn thing! I want to know who he thinks the coffee press is sleeping with that it would require a condom???

YAY Weekend

I'm so happy it's the weekend. For some reason this week has taken a lot out of me. Between the migraines, work and family woes I'm just plain tired. It's a good thing this weekend is going to be crummy because I need a little hiding in the house and knitting time.

Last night I stayed in because of migraine but once it started to get better I just couldn't sit still. So in preparation for my first ever ravelry ad, which will run through the month of October, I spent the evening reskeining everything that I have in stock and taking new pictures. I'm really impressed with how well everything turned out. My arm is tire
d from all the reskeining but it was well worth the effort.

And I have ever so many FO and WIP photos for you all today!!!

First, I finally sewed in all the ends on my Back-to-School Vest and here it is! I love it! I feel preppier already (because that's possible).

Second, I had myself a little felting party the other night and now my french market bag is all done! I love it. Its big and room and not bulky at all. The interesting thing is that it seems to help keep one side of me very warm when I'm using it. Who knew a purse could do that?!

Third, I took a pic of my progress on the Gossamer Stole. I haven't got very far but I also haven't messed up yet! I think I'm going to just take it slow and I hope to continue my lucky streak of not fucking up!!!

And last but not least, I started the Oo la la French Press Cozy from Yarnplay at Home with some cascade I had lying around. I decided that while I work on this GIANT lace shawl that's more invovled than anything I've ever knit before (no pressure) I need to work on little projects that are simple and will knit up quickly so I can't feel like I'm accomplishing something with my knitting.

Carl keeps waking up in the morning to find the coffee press on the coffee table but no coffee in it so he puts it back in the cupboard. Last night when he came home he saw it out again and decided to finally ask me what the heck was going on. I explained that it was my model and I think he felt relieved. I think he thought he was going a little insane there or that I was trying to tell him something. I wonder how he's going to feel when he sees the completed pink and kelly green cozy...tee hee. I guess that's what you get when you live with a girl!!!

Ok now its back to the vegging. I love weekends!

I have a girl crush on Kim Hargreaves

Ever since Heartfelt came out I've been obsessed with your patterns. I want to live in Heartfelt, its so pretty. Then today I receive an email telling me there's a new book out. WOO HOO!!! So happy!!! My commute is extra sucky this week (thank you U.N.) so I need all the happy I can get!!

And I finally got a size 5 16 inch circular needle so I can finish up my Back-to-School Vest! Maybe I can wear it to work tomorrow!

A very productive day

After a very long weekend hanging out with an old friend and her new boyfriend (I miss you Maggie!) I had to get my butt in gear and start the work week again. I some how manage to be very productive today. I caught up on a lot of work I haven't been able to get to in months. I mailed out an order and when I got home today I whipped out my new swift/reskeiner and reskeined another order.

And another order is ready to go tomorrow.

Now I'm off to relax and enjoy my evening without Carl.

If only I had a camera II

This is becoming a regular segment! I was walking home from knitting group tonight and I walked by a closed Starbucks and there's a seemingly not homeless young man sitting cross-legged outside listening to some tunes and typing away on his laptop. Is he stealing Internet? Did they kick him out before he was done with his novel? I'm not sure, all I know is that it's weird.

In knitting news, my knitting savior Jess fixed my little mistake on the Back-to-School Vest and the armholes are now seamed properly. I'm waiting to borrow a size 5 16 inch circ from another knitting pal over the weekend so I can finish the armholes and neck. I hope to be able to wear it to work on Monday.

Now its time for me to get to sleep. NIGHT!

If only I had a camera

I was walking to work this morning and see a little old lady walking a little white fluffy dog. You’d think that would be normal? No this poor dog had purple ears and a purple tail. WHO DYES THEIR PET? I wanted to grab that poor dog and take him to a safe place where people wouldn’t dye him. What is wrong with people?

Anyway, I haven’t fixed my vest disaster because I just don’t want to look at it right now. I’m too mad at myself to even cope with this issue. I did start the Gossamer Stole by Sharon Winsauer last night. I’m using a very pale blue colorway of Lacey Lamb by Jade Sapphire so it will either be my “something blue” if I get married at any point or it will be my old-maid shroud. We’ll see.

Other than working on the store to try to make it successful there’s not much else going on.

I hope you all have a great week!

Crap

This is what happens when you don't pay attention while knitting:

You 3-needle bind-off the back arm holes together thus fucking up your entire garment...HELP!!! How do I undo this????

Feeling much better

I haven't had to take any pain meds today and after sleeping for nearly 24 hours yesterday I'm feeling rather rested all things considered! I decided it was time to update the shop with a few of the new colorways I had lying around in the cabinet. It wasn't a big update so I never thought it would take me nearly 5 hours to get everything ready for pictures and listing. One skein took up the bulk of my prep time. It was a 1/2 pound skein that had somehow gotten all tangled while I was dyeing it so when it came time to split it up into smaller skeins I started to have some trouble. It took me hours to split the skein up and now that's its done I can't even list it because I need to reskein them all. My plan was to split the skein in two, one into a ball to be reskein and one left on the swift that I could twist up and take photos of, this didn't happen, I know have two balls and no niddy-noddy at the moment. My mother has been staining it this week because she has outdoors space and I don't. Thankfully, my niddy-noddy and two other 1/2 pound skeins will be arriving on monday. I guess all is not lost.

Carl is at the Mets double-header today so I get a lot of alone time. I plan on watch more girly tv before he gets back and spoils it.

Stoned

I was blessed to have inherited bad teeth. Yah, they look perfectly fine but I'm waiting for the day when I start setting off metal detectors with all my fillings. Because of this I had to have a tooth extracted this morning. It was beyond saving and will now have to be replaced by an implant. So I have spent my morning and afternoon stoned on the pain meds, sleeping on the couch and watching crap tv. Carl is working from home today so he can take care of me but everytime he sees one of the gauze he makes a face and looks like he's about to bolt, the poor guy. But I'm very glad he stayed. It means I don't have to go up and down the staircase of death to get things like my pillow or shorts.

I hoping I can stay sober long enough to finish the Back to School Vest. I'm on my last strap and then I can seam up then do the neck and armholes. I need to find a US#5 16 inch circle though, do you think Carl would run out and grab one for me? I do have an in progress picture:

Yah its upside down but I can't be bothered to rotate it at the moment. And I guess it kind of expresses how I feel at the moment.

Thank you all for your support with my zit. It was just so annoying to have someone pointing it out all the freaking time. Its nice to know that many of us suffer from this from time to time.

Ok I guess I should lie back down because the meds are wearing off and the pain is coming back. Stupid teeth!

And I apologize if this makes no sense at all.

Venting

I have nothing knitting or fiber related to dicuss today so if you're looking for that kind of post please feel free to move on to the next blog. Today I just need to vent about my zit. Yes, this morning I woke up with a huge zit right in the middle of forehead. It's like my third eye only vile and awful and something I wish I could rip off my face. But I'm 24 and I've had zits before. Why does this one zit annoy me so much? Well, I'll tell you! It annoys me because everyone points it out. It feels like 30 people have said to me today "wow, that's a big one and its right in the middle of your forehead!" Its not like I haven't noticed it people!!! Please stop pointing it out to me!! This is worse than high school!! I'm an adult, isn't this part of my life supposed to be over??? UGH!!!

I'm off to find my Zeno so I can zap the sucker...thank you for listening.

L&V Made My Day

I'm sitting at work today have a really crap day. I'm listening to the new Lime & Violet Episode happily chuckling away at their antics when they review my shop! I couldn't stop giggling with joy! They're the best. They always make me laugh and its nice to have their approval. Thank you thank you thank you! I got back from work late tonight and I still have some more work to do tomorrow but it doesn't matter because I'm on cloud-9!

I'm hoping the hurricane doesn't ruin my dyeing plans on Sunday. I don't think my mom will let me dye indoors since she's already a little mad at me for dyeing a tiny tiny tiny tiny spot of her deck blue the other weekend but I guess she can't complain if there's a hurricane blowing through now can she!

I'm off to relax and watch all tbe Brit-coms on PBS while Carl's at the Mets game. I'm making a lot of progress on my Back-to-School Vest and hope to finish it up this weekend.

Happy Weekend!

Spinning

In more ways than one. The beast in my tummy has been keeping me up for the last few nights and no I'm not pregnant its just a little sensitive at the moment. Anyway, I'm exhausted and took the day to rest because there was no way I was making it through a whole day at work without a nap or 12. And since I'm home and my allergies are insane at the moment I'm taking this opportunity to pump myself full of decongestant so frankly I'm a little high at the moment, its kind of nice. I decided that this is the perfect time to work on my spinning! I haven't been able to find the spindle I've been working on for the past few months. I keep rearranging my stash thinking it will magically turn up but still nothing. I'm very close to finishing the roving I was working on and its very frustrating that I can't find it and finish it already but I wanted to spin so I broke out another spindle and start on some roving from my stash.

I bought this batt from CJKopec months and months ago and I'm happy I'm finally spinning it up. The colors were a little darker than I though they were going to be. Even in my picture it looks more blue and purple than black but now that I'm spinning with it I L-O-V-E love it!! It spins like a dream!

All the way in the back of the picture you can see a little brown mound of knitting, that's my Back-to-School Vest by Stephanie Japel. I can't wait till its done so I can wear to her little retreat thing in November! Is that ok? Or is that like wearing the tee shirt of the band you're seeing? You have to let me know if I'm committing some sort of knitting sin!

Ok back to sleepies for me, decongestants are fun and all but man they mess me up.

Done

And with four hours to spare! I just finished the socks I was knitting for Carl. I want to have them finished before he got home today from his little trip with the boys and I've done it!

They're just a little too big for me but they should be perfect on him. I hope he likes them!

Now I'm off to try to clean up the apartment!
